How do you catch a Cold?

You do not get a cold by being cold, or getting wet, that is an old myth. There are more than 200 viruses that cause a cold the most common virus being rhinovirus, and it is highly contagious. The virus enters your body through your nose, eyes or mouth. The virus is in little droplets in the air, if some one sick sneezes or coughs the little droplets can enter your body from your mouth or nose. Also if a contagious person touches something and you get the virus on your hand, it can now enter your body if you touch your nose, mouth or eyes. Try to avoid touching these areas while in public places.

If you have been around someone with a cold it usually takes about one to three days to catch a cold. You will slowly begin to notice some of the cold symptoms.  Once the cold has begun its course, you may notice yellow or green mucus from your nose, this is normal.

If you do get the cold or the flu, you should try to make yourself as comfortable as possible, take Vitamin C tablet such as Solaray Vitamin C Bio-Plex Buffered 500 MG - 250 Capsules and Echinacea works great, try Vitamin Shoppe Echinacea Goldenseal Complex - 100 Capsules

It would also be a good idea to take an immunity booster while you have a cold or the flu. Get More Info on ImmunityPlus for a Stronger Immune System.  Get your rest and eat well, this will help shorten the time you have your cold.

How do you catch the Flu?

The flu is caused by three types of viruses (strains); influenza A,B and C. Type A is the deadly influenza pandemic which happens every 10 to 40 years. The type B is responsible for the more localized outbreaks, these viruses circulate every year. These two types of viruses are changing every year, with new strains appearing.

When you get the flu your body develops antibodies so you will be immune to that strain of flu, but since the A and B strains are always changing, it is possible to catch a different flu each year. Type C is a pretty stable virus and it has not been linked to a large epidemic.

Flu viruses, like the cold virus, are in little droplets that travel through the air. Just like a cold when an infected person sneezes or coughs the droplets enter the air and you catch them in your nose or mouth.  You can also catch the flu germ from objects that have been touched by an infected person, then you get it on your hand and infect yourself.

Remember these Tips

The most important tips are; wash your hands often, and get enough sleep to keep your immunity up.  It is is recommended you get at least 8 hours of sleep a night.  Doing these two things will help you avoid getting a cold or the flu.
